Angeline Mowery

MIFFLINBURG – Angeline Elizabeth Mowery, 89, formerly of Mifflinburg, entered into rest at 4:25 p.m., Wednesday, July 20, 2016, in Northumberland, at the home of her daughter.

She was born November 1, 1926, in Union County, a daughter of the late Elias and Maude (Zellers) Mook.  At the age of 2, Angeline was adopted by John and Sarah Steffen. On September 6, 1950, she married Marlin Mowery, who preceded her in death February 9, 2002.

Angeline was a member of the Hillside Bible Church, Mifflinburg, where she served as Sunday school teacher and church treasurer for 20 years.  Earlier in life, she was a member of the Forest Hill United Methodist Church, where she served as treasurer.

She was employed as a teacher’s aide at the Hillside Christian Academy, Mifflinburg, for 20 years.

Angeline enjoyed spending time with her family.

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Marion Mowery of Watsontown, and Gerald and Doris Mowery of Mifflinburg; one daughter, Julia Rathmell of Northumberland; one sister, Marie Delcamp of Mifflinburg; 9 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

Family and friends are welcome from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, and 10:30 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, at the Hillside Bible Church, 1650 Centennial Rd., Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11, with Pastor Samuel Knisely, officiating.
