Carl Russell ReitenbachApril 28, 1932 ~ October 14, 2017 (age 85)
Carl Russell Reitenbach, 85, of 275 Red Ridge Rd., Lewisburg, for the past 60 years, went home to be with the Lord at 3:00 a.m., Saturday, October 14, 2017, at his home.
He was born April 28, 1932, in rural Lewisburg, the youngest son of the late John Merrill and Laura Dorothy (Reish) Reitenbach. On April 5, 1952, he married the former Alice Lucille Feaster, who survives. They were married for 65 years.
Carl attended the Black Run School and Lewisburg High School. After helping his father on the family farm and in his white washing and spraying business, Carl was drafted into the Army in December of 1952. He was honorably discharged on November 19, 1954, after serving in Japan.
He was employed by the Buffalo Valley Telephone Company, Mifflinburg, for 42 years.
Carl was a founding member of the Hillside Bible Church, Mifflinburg, where he served on the board and other positions. He enjoyed gospel music, old hymns, and singing in his church. Carl recently enjoyed attending Potters House meetings at the New Hope Bible Church, Mifflinburg.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman having harvested many buck over his lifetime. Carl enjoyed people and especially enjoyed receiving visitors in recent years.
In addition to his wife of 65 years, are three sons and daughters-in-law, Merrill D. and Alice Reitenbach, Robert C. and Pamela Reitenbach, and Rodney A. and Brenda Reitenbach, all of Mifflinburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Clair Miller of Mifflinburg; one brother, Merlyn Reitenbach of Lewisburg; ten grandchildren and their spouses, Autumn and Andy Shively, Aaron and Stacy Reitenbach, Anson and Amy Reitenbach, Brett and Elisabeth Reitenbach, Laura and Isaac Walton, Alison Reitenbach, Angelina Reitenbach, Cody Miller, Connor Miller, and Reba Miller; 5 step-grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 14 step-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by siblings, Beatrice Mook, John Reitenbach, Hazel Gemberling, Irene Gemberling, Myrtle Crabb, Margaret Mack, Roger Reitenbach, Dorothy Byers Houdeshell, Florence Lilley, and three siblings in infancy; one step-grandson; and one step-great grandson.
Family and friends are welcome to a time of visitation from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg, and from 10 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, at the Hillside Bible Church, 1650 Centennial Rd., Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11.
Burial will be in the Hillside Bible Church Cemetery, with military honors by the Mifflinburg American Legion Post 410 and area veterans.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Carl’s memory to a Christian charity of the donor’s choice.
