Assistant Funeral Director Internship

Roupp Funeral Home, located in central Pennsylvania, is a family-owned full-service funeral home offering both burial and cremation services for over thirty years. As our funeral home continues to thrive, we are seeking an intern with a Mortuary Science degree who will support and preserve our standards of excellence. Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and/or perform transfers from place of death to the funeral home with Funeral Director or Support Staff team member
  • Lead meetings with client families to arrange personalized and meaningful services based on funeral home specifications and packages
  • Ensure proper paperwork is completed in a timely and accurate manner – in accordance with relevant laws, regulations and funeral specific systems
  • Ability to lead and assist with all funeral service capacities
  • Work on-call/first call, in rotation with other team members
  • Assist with appropriate care and preparation for deceased: embalming, dressing, cosmetics, sanitary care, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Accredited Mortuary School Graduate
  • Successful completion of National Board examination
  • Clean Driving Record
  • Physically capable of lifting, pushing and pulling
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools

Job Type: Full-Time (40 Hours Weekly with On-Call Schedule)


Required License or certification:

  • Accredited Mortuary School Graduate
  • Successful completion of National Board examination
  • Graduate looking to complete their one-year internship requirement with opportunity for long-term employment after receiving PA Funeral License

Office Assistant

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate schedules and office calendar for meetings, funerals, and other events
  • Ensure office paperwork is up to date, organized, easily accessible to staff, and presentable for families
  • Complete phone calls to coordinate funeral orders in a timely manner, ensuring items will be ready for the service
  • Maintaining facilities, supplies, and keeping inventory records
  • Assisting with funeral set up
  • Attentive to answering phones, taking and delivering messages, and welcoming guests 
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools
  • Clean Driving Record
  • Professionally completing phone calls and orders
  • Computer skills to organize files, type documents, send emails, order supplies, research marketing 
  • Physically able to assist with errands, and light to medium lifting, pushing, and pulling
